MISSION. Immedium Press produces, disseminates and promotes literature and theory creatively analyzing and critiquing society and culture. As a not-for-profit, non-hierarchical organization, we are able to challenge traditional corporate publishing strategies by adopting innovative and creative ways of distributing information.

THE IMMEDIUM APPROACH

Immedium improves on traditional publishing strategies in a number of ways:

INNOVATION. The Immedium approach involves shrinking the distance between authors and readers. Online forums enable peer-to-peer interaction between authors and readers, so that relevant discussions can take place. The Immedium Fair Use License removes legal barriers that hinder the dissemination of knowledge. Developments in communication technologies are utilized to distribute information in new ways.

FAIR USE LICENCE. Immedium Press does not use copyright protection. Instead, we publish material under our Fair Use licence. The Immedium Press Fair Use licence allows for greater freedom in the dissemination and distribution of written work. We believe in a democratic distribution of knowledge, and that knowledge should be freely available. Fair Use makes this possible, while at the same time rewards authors for their contributions.

NON-HIERARCHIAL STRUCTURE. Immedium is horizontally organized, meaning that decisions are made through a consensus process. Creative freedom is encouraged by avoiding top-down decision making. Power is given to ideas, not to people or positions.
